Maladar is an antimalarial combination medication that contains the active ingredients sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine. The combination of these two drugs is used for the treatment and prevention of certain types of malaria.

It particularly those caused by the Plasmodium falciparum parasite which is resistant to other antimalarial drugs. The combination is often referred to as SP (sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine).

Sulfadoxine: It belongs to the class of medicines known as sulfonamides. It inhibits the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid in the parasite, which is essential for its survival and multiplication.
